2010 Review

Here’s our (belated) 2010 review in pics. Better late than never right? It’s a little bit of our year encapsulated in a blog post; a recap of some of our shoots (and some that haven’t been blogged), and other happenings in 2010.

We joined a local photographers group to network and socialize in January.

The beginning of February, we had a group shootout with the local photographer’s group. This was an all day session- shooting a bridal, and then shooting some fun fashion models.

At the end of February, we attended the New Orleans Photo GTG, where we shot some bridals, networked with other area photographers, and ate a buffet meal at Mother’s Restaurant.

In March, there was a shootout at the Glynns of the Myrtles in St. Francisville, that I blogged about here.

In April, we had two fun shoots- an anytime sessions with two brothers, and a family session. I blogged about them here and here.

In July, we tried our hand at shooting a newborn session, blogged about here.

We also braved the heat to shoot an anytime session with Gardenia. We have another shoot with her coming up, and we can’t wait. She makes our job easier, that’s for sure!

I think we picked THE hottest day in August to shoot my sister Megan’s engagement pictures. They were troopers, though, and got through it.  I blogged about their e-session here.

In early September, we shot our first maternity shoot with our sister-in-law, Norbelis. It’s amazing what you can do with a $15 black sheet from Wal-Mart, a fan, and two flashes. Oh, and a great model! More pics from this shoot blogged here.

Exciting things happened in October: Megan got married!

She was a gorgeous bride, and the wedding was beautiful!

And Zoe, our niece was born! Go here to see some “before and afters” of Zoe.

In November, we attended our first photography “conference”,  AfterDark Edu. We didn’t shoot a lot at this conference. Instead, we were mainly listening and learning; watching how the other photographers worked. Iván snapped a few from the senior posing group that we attended:

To cap off the year, I had a fun little shoot with my friend’s dog, Chase, in December when they were visiting:

We’re looking forward to all of the photo shoots and get togethers we’ll have this year in 2011!

2011: New Year, New Inspiration

Here we are at the end of the first week of 2011. It’s a new year, a new beginning. It is a chance to reflect on life, challenge ourselves, and start fresh with a new attitude.

Last week, Iván and I sat down to reflect on our goal list for 2010 that we made at the end of 2009, and to make a new one for 2011. It is easy to get caught up in the clutter and noise of the internet, of other people’s blogs and websites, and get into that comparison game. We’ve realized that the only comparison that we need to have is with ourselves. So, that being said, we were pleased with our 2010. We’ll carry that spirit into the new year, keeping faith in the process, and trusting in the journey- wherever that might lead us.

Here’s to continuing the adventure.

Some inspiration this week provided by the awesome Jerry Ghionis on “looking for the light” on the latest episode of FastTrack Photographer.

“To see the inner light, you gotta believe in the inner light.”
